Etaples First World War Military Cemetery at Etaples on the northern French coast, the largest British cemetery in France with over 11,000 burials
Etaples First World War Military cemetery at Etaples on the northern French coast, the largest British cemetery in France with over 11,000 burials including many Germans and one Belgian. Etaples was a casualty clearing station military hospital on a massive scale, it was a horrible place beyond imagination. Men arriving to go and fight at the front after training on the nearby sand-dunes would pass through Etaples, known as Eat Apples, would see the horror of war on a epic scale seeing soldiers being treated awaiting transfer back to Britain and perhaps reflecting their own destiny?
