Thornborough Bridge - Buckinghamshire's oldest surviving bridge.


Thornborough Bridge - Buckinghamshire's oldest surviving bridge. It was replaced by a new one in 1974 and dates back to present bridge has six stone arches, pointed in shape, with double arch-rings built in two orders. Two arches have four chamfered ribs. On the upstream side and three cutwaters with recesses, but downstream there are none. In place of these there are two small buttresses and a large rectangular recess carried by an extension of one of the piers.
