Old believers attend the service of the Sunday of the Holy Myrrhbearers in the Church of the Intercession of our Lady Queen in Rogozhskaya Old-Rite Sloboda in Moscow, Russia. The Old Believers are a dissident community of Russian christians who refused to adapt to the modernisation efforts of Tzar Peter the Great in 1741 which led to a schism from the Russian Orthodox church. There are about half a million members of the Old Believers' community in Russia, according to the Patriarchate of the mainstream Orthodox Church
