A look into the centre of the fortification named Kastellet in Copenhagen from the southernly rampart

Editorial use only. The fortification "Kastellet" in the background was completed in 1663 and formed the northern end of the Copenhagen defensive wall. It was briefly occupied by British forces after the bombardement of Copenhagen in 1807. It is now more peaceful in that the buildings are now occupied by civilians and the complex is more a tourist attraction. Kastellet is still guarded by the Danish Army and the guards house is at the extreme right ata the south entrance to the fortification.
