Grading must be done by hand and eye ; I have not yet heard of a successful machine grader for pears. Fancy fruits should each be wrapped in paper, â California style. Plums.âAll sorts of packages are used for this frnit; it does not seem to have an individual package especially adapted to its needs. Peach baskets, grain- baskets, strawberry boxes in crates, etc., etc., are all used. Each grower has his own preference ; and, f course, the style of package chosen should depend largely upon the distance it must be shipped. OuiNCKS. â Barrels, half-barrels, bushel baskets, etc., are all suitable for quinces. Each fruit should be well colored, unbruised and perfect .Make two grades or sizes.
