Pitching our camp in the morning, we had re-mained through the heat of that August day in ourtent under the grateful mango shade, and when thesun began to approach the western horizon we, withour native assistants, went through the gates to themarket-place in the centre of the town, and takingour position on the wide stone steps on its north side,we together sang a rallying gospel song to one of theirfavourite old Telugu tunes, and, reading from the. mmA{ V iM^I
