TlJEVENTlOX .'VXD We, unfortunately, cannot prevent the Tortrix attack as we can the Winter Sloth, and at present we know of no treatment which is likely to destroy the eggs. We are liound to spray to kill the larva', and to be of help this must be done before the lar\xe form those leaf-rolls or spin one or two leaves together. Aljout mid April seems to lie tlie time when we can catch most of tliese pests in the open, when tliey are small and have done but little damage. Arsenate of lead has been found quite successful, but two sprayings may be necessary, a second one in late May for killing some of tlie last hatched caterpillars. Tlie ordinary spraying for AYinter Motli destroys the lairtrices at the same time. Eefeeexck. (1) Tlicohalil, F. V. J\Iicro-Lepiiloptero\is Laivit S. E. Agri. ColL No. 6, p. IS (Dec. iy97).
