Creag Meagaidh Nature Reserve, Kinlochlaggan. Newtonmore, Inverness-shire. Scotland. GPAN 0033

The magnificent ice-carved crags of Coire Ardair are just one of the attractions of this varied reserve stretching from loch shore to mountain top. It provides a vivid demonstration of how readily native woodland of birch, alder, willow, rowan and oak recovers when the number of grazing animals is controlled. A national Nature Reserve since 1984, Management has been directed towards acieving a reduction of Red Deer numbers by either traditional Culling methods and by catching deer as live animals. Since the extabishment of the reserve changes in woodland devlopement has been dramatic and the wildlife resource too has been greatly enhanced.
