The commissioners have graded over ten milesof streets and avenues, have laid sewers in nearly all ofthe streets of the first ward, have paved, curbed andflagged nearly all of the main streets and avenues in thefirst ward, and have built two iron bridges across DutchKills Creek, besides several railroad crossings. Thewhole cost of this work will be in round figures about^2,000,000. July 4th 1867 Mr. Van Alst married Miss Eliza John-son. His children have been Helen G., born April13th 1868; Eliza G., born September 29th 1869, diedDecember 7th 1874, and Peter G., born March ? ??-f^jf^! ? !</V J ?
