Soccer 1920-21 When reviewing the athletics at Varsity during the pastyear and taking stock of the silverware which Science teamshave won in the many branches of sport, it is well to rememberthe soccer team, which relieved the Dentals of responsibility forthe Faculty Cup, and brought it back to its former place atSchool. The schedule for last season divided the faculties into twogroups: Meds, Victoria, Wycliffe and Science forming one, andKnox, Pharmacy, Veterinary, with Dents, last years champions,in the other group. University College did not enter a team. In their group Knox won out, playing some fast games, butmanaging to come out first in them all. The firstgame of the finals was an exhibition of as fine soccer as has beenseen in the series since the war. Both teams worked hard forthe full sixty minutes, but School managed to come out on thelong end of a two-to-one score. In the second game Schoolelected to play a defensive game, and although hard pressed attimes, succeeded in maintaining their one-goal lead by a no-goalgame, thus winning the round and the cup. As in all sports, Science supplied a full share of men forthe Senior and Intermediate teams, there being three on theSenior and seven men on the Intermediate. The Senior serieswas short, there being only two games played, one at Kingston,which resulted in a tie, and one here, when Queens were de-feated, giving the championship to Toronto.
