Porch and S. aisle undercontinuous roof. Some good 15th cent, benches,seats, and fragments of old stained glass. Somecoffin-lids are exposed to view. Lower panels ofrood-screen painted. Elizabethan pulpit embel-lished with the linen panelling has canopy back ^ Origin unknown. The Lomhardic lettering has HISTOX, ST, ANDREW. GABLE [ROOD] CROSS CAMBRIDGESHIRE 103 and sounding-board, with modern base. Towerhas graduated parapet, on the W. face a goodlancet. At angle two very large Jacobean inscribed alms-box no longer , 1628. Transcript, 1600. Re-stored, 1847, 1865, 1890. Cinquefoil S. side, monuments with effigies to Sir GilesAllington, Master of the Ordnance, temp. HenryVIII. (pb. 1586), and his son G3^1es, both inarmour. On N. side, monument with effigies toSir Giles Allington (pb. 1613), wife Dorothy, andkneeling figures of children. Brass with muti-lated effigy to Robert, son of Sir Giles Allington{pb. 1552), and Margaret (Coningsbie) his wife,and inscribed brasses to Joan Alyngton, sister andheiress of John Argentine (pb. 1429
