Lincoln Letters The first Lincoln item to be acquired by The LincolnNational Life Insurance Company was a letter writtenby Robert T. Lincoln to Arthur F. Hall, dated August 3,1905. In this letter Lincolns eldest son gave the newlyorganized insurance company permission to use his fath-ers portrait on its letterhead, and he also provided whathe considered to be his fathers best photograph. Like-wise the letter implied that the insurance company coulduge the name Lincoln with his approval. From the insurance companys point of view the RobertLincoln letter and photographbecame one of the firms mostvaluable assets and it is easy tosee how it would serve as anucleus for the building of agreat Lincoln library and mu-seum
