The Kalka-Shimla railway is a narrow gauge railway in Northern India that was built to connect the summer capital of Shimla then spelt Simla to Punjab. Built in 1903 the steam train passed through around 100 tunnels and crosses 800 bridges on its 60 mile journey. Initially built to transport goods, then later as a passenger train for those folk escaping the heat of the summer Punjab plains. Renovated the present day diesel train known as the Toy Train is a must do train ride for tourists. This particular image shows the train exiting the longest Baroq Tunnel and station. The railway is a UNESCO world Heritage site, Mountain Railways of India
