MODEL RELEASED. DNA amplification. Student labelling a sample of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid). The sample is the product of a PCR (polymerase chain reaction), a  technique which amplifies ÂDNA. He is being watched by Dr Keth Barr, a lecturer in Exercise Biochemistry at Dundee University. The DNA is to be used for the culture of rat muscle tissue for use in physiological research being carried out at the functional molecular biology laboratory at Dundee University, Scotland. The research focuses on two areas of musculoskeletal development and adaptation. They are concerned with both the transcriptional and translational effects of exercise, and in methods for engineering functional musculoskeletal tissues in vitro.
