River in Tasmania, with tree and birds. This river is the Corra Linn, in the northern part of Tasmania, an island off south-eastern Australia with its own unique flora and fauna. Tasmania was discovered by Europeans in 1642, and settled from 1803. This artwork is from 'The Last of the Tasmanians' (1870), by the English-Australian author James Bonwick (1817-1906). Bonwick travelled widely in Australia, New Zealand and Europe from the 1860s, publishing several books about the areas he visited.
