"Well, they don't look a lot different from a good many others we've seen," was the comment one of the lady visitors was heard to pass. Just after the show opened the news- papers printed big scare heads about the big storm coming out of the north- west. As the show ran along with beautiful weather, the management sent a big bouquet to the weather office with a note of appreciation for side- tracking the blizzard. C. H. Totty appeared with a thumb, on his right hand, that looked like a ham. On the way out a lurch of the train threw him into a closing door just in time to get badly crushed. After a night sleepless with pain, a Cleveland surgeon removed several pieces of bone and dressed the injury, but Mr. Totty will eat with his left hand for some time. B. Hammond Tracy and Mrs. Tracy, who always accompanies him to con- ventions and shows, motored from Wen- ham, Mass. J. A. Valentine came all the way from Denver. The Priedley Co., Cleveland, made its first appearance at this show, of which F. A. Friedley was manager. The in- terests heretofore in the James Eadie Co. have been divided. Frank Schoen will retain the retail store apd the old name. Mr. Friedley takes the green- houses and will grow for the wholesale market. E. Vinoent, Jr., was busy proselyting for the American Dahlia Society. Of its 300 members sixty are in the S. A. F. and he wants forty more, so the dahlia president can sit with the S. A. F. directors. Incidentally, Mr. Vincent claims great credit for having intro- duced hardy pompon chrysanthemums in this country some fifteen years ago. He says that they met with little favor at first, but now hold a place fully as important as the big mums. k^*^<#^';<^';»^<#^<<^<<^-fer»>-fer»>-fef»&gt
