'Portrait of the Grand Duchess Anna Pavlovna', 1849. Detail. The eighth child and sixth daughter of Tsar Paul I of and Empress Maria Feodorovna of Russia, Grand Duchess Anna Pavlovna (1795-1865) married the future King William II of the Netherlands in 1816. An earlier offer of marriage from Napoleon had been refused. Found in the collection of The Hermitage, St Petersburg.
