American Revolutionary general Charles Lee (1731–1782) was born in England. He settled in Virginia in 1773. After he was captured in 1776, he chose to serve the British. He later returned to the Revolutionary side, but he was court-martialed for disobedience at the Battle of Monmouth (1778). Pictured here is his house in New York state.
