International Space Station solar array being folded into its blanket box. This array consists of many solar panels that can be folded up or extended as needed. When unfolded, it is designed to convert the energy in sunlight into electrical energy to power the International Space Station (ISS). This is the port overhead solar array wing that has been installed on the P6 truss of the ISS. It was installed during mission STS-116 (9-22 December 2006). Photographed on 18 December 2006.
