This is a studio portrait of Rudolph Valentino, born as Rodolfo Pietro Filiberto Raffaello Guglielmi di Valentina d’Antonguella on May 6, 1895, in Castellaneta, Italy. He was an iconic figure of the silent film era. Known as the “Great Lover,” he starred in several well-known films including “The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse,” “The Sheik,” and "Blood and Sand". He died August 23, 1926. His early death from peritonitis at age 31 caused mass hysteria among his fans, cementing his place in cinematic history. He was also known as the “Latin Lover,” a title invented for him by Hollywood moguls.
