The posterior wall of the capsule, in addition to being pierced by the canals which in all probability carried the ophthalmicus superficialis seventh and profundus fifth nerves mentioned by Romer (1937), has a large opening in the ventrolateral corner (Figs. 3, 4, 5, 10 D and E, ) —the posteroventral fenestra — the significance of which is rather enigmatical.
