STS-32, Astronauts with LBNP, 1990

Mission specialists work with the Collapsible Lower Body Negative Pressure Unit on Space Shuttle Columbia's mid deck. Taken during STS-32, (01/09/90-01/20/90). The Collapsible Lower Body Negative Pressure (LBNP) System provides a controlled, measured orthostatic stress to the cardiovascular system. It counteracts orthostatic intolerance by stimulating physiological responses that encourage a redistribution of body fluids.
