Team members from Robins Air Force Base, Ga., monitor their counter-unmanned aerial system as judges observe in the background during the 2016 Air Force Research Laboratory Commanders Challenge at the Nevada National Security Site, Las Vegas, NV., Dec. 13, 2016. Teams were given six months to develop a complete counter-unmanned aerial system to aid in base defense. Robins' system is a multi-layered integrated system which uses a radar and camera system for detection and identification. It also uses a hunter killer drone for interception and a water cannon for shooting it out of the sky.
