Sydney Opera House is situated at Bennelong Point on the shores of Sydney Harbour in Australia. Designed by the Danish architect Jorn Utzon, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the 20th century's most famous and distinctive buildings. Construction commenced in 1959 and the building was officially opened in 1973. Construction costs were estimated at AUD $100 million dollars, equivalent to $1 billion AUD in 2018.
