Meanwhile another project, backed by pro-choice politicians and groups, was rejected by the parliament in the first reading. The "Save Women" committee's project focused on a pro-choice approach, and wanted abortion to be available to women in all circumstances, up to the 12th week of pregnancy. Poland has one on the strictest laws in Europe regarding abortions and allows the procedure only in the case of rape, incest of if the fetus has severe genetic defects.
