1939 - Workers photographed during the building of the Battersea B Power Station , balancing on girders with no safety gear whatsoever. Construction was paused because of World War Two and the building wasn't completed until 1955. It was decommissioned between 1975 and 1983 and remained empty until 2014, having been made a listed building in 1980 (upgraded 2007). Today it has become a cultural centre with bars, restaurants, shops, parks and public spaces
