He was educated at private schools inBoston and prepared for College at , graduating at Yale in the Class of 1S45and receiving his Masters degree in course. Inhis Senior year in College he became a member ofthe Skull and Bones Society. Immediately u])onleaving Yale he entered the Dane Law School atHarvard, pursuing the regular course and graduatingwith the degree of Bachelor of Laws in 1847. .\1-though he was admitted to the Suffolk Bar in 1S48,Mr. Nickerson did not enter ujion the practice ofhis profession but engaged in mercantile businessuntil 1864, and after that time gave his attention.
