A Coast Guard Observation Plane. One of the Coast Guard observation planes which carries out the greater part of ice reconnaissance for the International Ice Patrol tracks an iceberg spotted off Newfoundland. Patrol planes are based at the Coast Guard Air Detachment in Argentia, Newfoundland, where the Commander, International Ice Patrol's Headquarters are located during the ice season. Ice Patrol flights generally last 10 or 11 hours.
