Following the "Forty Five" rebellion, Charles Stuart (1720 – 1788), commonly known as The Young Pretender, Young Chevalier and Bonnie Prince Charlie took flight and escaped to the Isle of Skye where he evaded capture disguised as an Irish maid, "Betty Burke", and left the country aboard the French frigate L'Heureux, arriving back in France in September.
