Opinions oj the Press on the First Edition (iSiy):— Scotsman :—The authors design has been to preserve in some form thelegends and fairy tales of Shetland, and the result of his labour of love has beenthe production of a really delightful book. He has chosen the form of acontinuous narrative, but the book is really what it aims to be, a collection offireside tales. Much of the story is written in the strange dialect of these wildnorthern isles, but to our mind this adds a charm to the book without present-ing any serious difficulty to the general reader, since the author has provided acopious vocabulary. The stories themselves are full of interest, and some ofthem are very fascinating. But the book derives a special value from theappendix attached to it. The authors
