Grown as a crop in the southern tip counties of the state. The lint furnishes absorbent cotton and pyroxylin; the seed yields cottonseed oil; the fresh root bark contains an active, color- less, resinous substance which becomes In- active and red In color as the bark ages. The root bark Is used as an emmenagogue and ecbollc; the oil as an emollient.
