When the foal is twelve hours oldan injection is given of about a pint of warm water(about the temperature of milk when freshly drawnfrom the cow) to which a little soap has beenadded. The quantity of soap required is so smallthat it is sufficient to rub a little on the hand3and wash it off into the -water, to be injected byan enema or rubber-ball syringe, the latter beingpreferred. The whole of the liquid is slowly in-jected into the rectum. Even if there are signs oflooseness or purging after this treatment, the dosemust be repeated in twenty-four hours.
