Tohoku occupies the northeastern portion of Honshu, Japan's largest island. The Sea of Japan (blue, left) and Pacific Ocean (blue right) can also be seen. The Tsugaru Strait (blue, top centre) separates Honshu from the island of Hokkaido (top centre).
