Roy, the car-penter, jeweller, and photographer, was verykind to me. Every time my camera had beenall shot away, he would load it up for mein his dark room. Roy and I got real wellacquainted. I wasnt going to stay long intown so I called often. He didnt give me muchencouragement though about results, as he saidphotographs taken in the pouring rain werentalways the best; but I held the umbrella overthe camera so that it wouldnt get wet and kepton shooting, I always try to be obliging andwhen Otis and some others of the storekeeperswould come out and ask me if I would please take their stores, Id take it, and go on tosome other object.
