Another va- riety of great merit is Rose King, car- mine rose. There were three ])inks in this type that were especially nice and which we placed in our opinion in the following order of merit: Rose King, new, has no white throat or lip, rich self; Pink BeaUty, large flowers, rosy ])ink self, nice habit, and Feltham Beauty, rose and white. Orange Beauty and Torchlight are good orange varie- ties; Crimson King is best for crimson; Queen Victoria, for white, and Primrose King, for yellow. Stocks a Specialty. "Stocks are one of Mr. Watkins" favorite flowers and thej' are a big fea- ture at Twickenham. Before the war the selection of choice strains was largely in the hands of the Oermans, but, with the new order of things, Wat- kins & Simpson are in the fore front and they make it their proud bo:ist that their collections of stock seeds, separate colors, are all British strains. There in the beds can be seen rows of ten-week, large-flowered, in all the well known shades. Watkins & Simpson have ad- vanced a long way on the road to se cure uniformity of flowering period for each variety, which is so essential. The percentage of doubles is high.
