Veins of undoubted fissure type do occur, however, whichconform with strike or dip of the wall rocks, and in some instances withboth. That the Argonaut vein is persistent for thousands of feet in bothstrike and dip is abundantly proven in the extensive workings of theArgonaut and Kennedy mines, the connection of their levels at numer-ous points showing clearly the identity and continuity of the vein inthese mines. The geology of the vein is very simple and may be briefly stated. Thatgeological horizon known as the Mariposa Beds (U. S.
