Ward Burton gets hit on pit road and careens into Ricky Rudd's car and several members of Rudd's pit crew. One of the victims had to be airlifted to an area hospital with head injuries, during the running of the NASCAR Pennzoil Freedom 400, November 11, 2001, at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida. After this race it became mandatory for pit crews to wear a helmet.
