The Marines and Sailors participated in a culminating event which incorporates amphibious landing, medical treatment and water purification during Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 16. CARAT 2016 is a nine-country, bilateral exercise series between the United States and Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Timor-Leste. This phase of CARAT focuses on partnerships between the forces of the US and Cambodia, and Brunei. As the premier naval engagement in South and Southeast Asia, CARAT provides a regional venue to address shared maritime security priorities, enhance interoperability among participation forces, and develop key relationships that will serve partner nations for many years to come.
