An advert for Lux soap bars. It appeared in a magazine published in the UK in 1959 and features a woman wrapped in a bathtowel and one foot in her bath. The Lux brand was founded by the Lever Brothers in 1899 - the company is now known as Unilever. Lux toilet soap in bar form was launched in the USA in 1925 and in the UK in 1928. Lux soap has since been produced in several forms, including handwash, shower gels and cream soap – vintage 1950s graphics for editorial use only.
