Various Notes. The nursery employees of E. & J. Farquhar & Co., at Dedham, Mass., held their first social and dance October 22. The stage of Memorial hall was beauti- fully decorated with foliage and flow- ering plants and there was an attend- ance of 400. So successful was the oc- casion that it is now planned to make it an annual affair. The growth of the Farquhar firm, especially at the nurs- ery end of the business, has been phe- nomenal. They now have 200 acres of nursery stock and a big block of green- houses, which are being constantly add- ed to to keep pace with the demand. The officers of the association are: President, Robert Laurie; treasurer, Patrick Fordham; secretary, J. Tra- quair. The executive committee, in ad- dition to the foregoing, consists of W. E. Gordon, R. G. Walsh, Jr., J. Scanlan, J. Cody and H. Steele. The Budlong Rose Co. is getting large daily shipments of chrysanthe- mums. Early Snow and Chryaolora have been excellent. Russell is coming fine; so is Ward, with 18-inch to 30-inch stems. Francis Scott Key sells well.
