A Roman golden necklace with knots of Hercules, 2nd - 3rd century The necklace made of alternating wire links with either a knot of Hercules or a link threaded with a white glass bead. The middle link attached to a large knot of Hercules, decorated with filigree, granulation and a central garnet cabochon. The clasp with hook and eye, both wrapped with fine wire. All links embellished with individual granules. The clasp and shape of the links are typical for Roman necklaces dating from the high and middle Imperial Era.
