An accu-rate and vivid picture was presented of theconditions of the Netherlands under Span-ish rule. The character of Philip H, ofSpain, and his policy toward the Nether-lands and Protestantism were denouncedvigorously, and the self-sacrificing life anddeeds of the Prince of Orange were heldup as an example to modern manhood.
