Lake District Sheep Farmer, c1960. Huge numbers of sheep are reared on the hill farms and moorlands of Cumbria. The sheep population of Cumbria is around three million. A mountainous region in North West England, the lakes are famous for lakes, forests and mountains (or fells) and association with the early 19th century writings of William Wordsworth .
