We circled and circledover the German lines until Hyatt had takenfifty-six photos, as fine a collection of theHun first, second and third lines as had everbeen made. When Hyatt had done that he had to pro-long the agony by photographing the Hunreserve positions; not that he wanted to, forhe was as frightened as I was. And afterthat we concluded that we might just as wellfly back home. Well, when we counted the holes in ourplanes in the aerodrome we discovered thatninety-six holes, of various sizes, made byhigh explosive shrapnel, had robbed ourplanes of much of their carrying capacity.
