Work began herein 1900 and was for several years under lease to the WorswickStreet Paving Company. The deposit is an old river bench abovethe present San Joaquin River bottoms. There are 7 to 15 feet ofgravel, underlaid by 3 to 6 feet of clay (said to be suitable forpottery) below which are 36 feet of gravel reported to be goldbearing. Boger is considering putting in steam shovels after the clayis removed, to work the lower gravel for gold.
