Three novice monks stand in front of a doorway at their monastery in the remote Tawang Valley, India.
Novices monk at the Tawang Monastery in Tawang, a former Tibetan Kingdom that was signed over to British- run India by way of the Simla Accord in 1914. It is now a part of the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, a fact fiercely disputed by China who do not recognise the Simla Accord and maintain that Tawang is theirs. The Dalai Lama fled to Tawang when escaping the Chinese Army in 1959.
