Colonels Chair peak, feet high, a spur ofHunter Mountain, forms the southern sky-line immediatelyacross the Schoharie, to which the ascent is easy and most in-teresting, as it is also to the parent crag, in addition to all this,. THE CATSKILL MOUNTAINS. 95 there are miles upon miles of excellent roads, leading out inevery direction, upon which the wise and good people of thattown have spent over during the past four years in sen-sible and permanent repairs, which is bringing its reward inincreased number of city visitors who delight to drive and cyclein this charming locality. With all these advantages there islittle wonder that so many thousands return to old Hunter vearafter year to spend their summer. Previous to the railway itwas almost inaccessible however, as were the favorite regionsof Lexington. Hensonville, Windham and jewett Heights, whichare now reached bv staoe fiom this station.
