The table is also very deep, is cored outfor lightness, but is ribbed so as to be ex-tremely stifif and rigid, while avoiding ex-cessive weight. It is one of the mostsubstantial small planers we have seen. Nicknames for Engines. Railroad men, especially in the trainservice department, delight in nicknamesfor the different classes of engines, someof which are very expressive. Draftsmans Bottle Holder. Its only an ink bottle—but to preventit being knocked over or off the table thedevice is ingenious and INK-BOTTLE HOLDER. Taking a piece of cardboard four, five orsix inches round (or any other shape), setthe bottle in the middle and draw aroundit as shown by dotted line B. Then, takeyour knife and cut from side to side ofcircle, or from center, as you pieces will do, but is, of course, op-tional. With these points turned up and the bottle snugly held by them, the danger ofoverturning is greatly lessened. By put-ting a thumb tack through the holder andinto the board it isnt as apt to go off onthe floor either. Cardboard is the easiest and cheapest tohandle, but anything can be used, such aszinc, brass or tin, and can be made asfancy as the maker chooses. Improvements on the Chicago & Alton.
