Nearly derelict SS United States ocean liner tied up at a Philadelphia dock. Sitting for years, its fate is unknown. Plans are centering around rebuilding or converting it into a hotel. The ship is the holder of the Blue Riband, for crossing the Atlantic in a record of just over four days. She is 990 feet long and 102 feet wide. Her 17th and final transatlantic voyage was also her 400th. She is 100 feet longer than the Titanic. A fund has also been established to save this Greyhound of the seas.

Rusting and nearly derelict SS United States is an icon of the heyday of ocean travel. Now stored and rusting away along the Delaware River.
