April 11, 2018-Goyang, South Korea-A View of Korean war Philippines Army monument memories. On September 19, 1950. shortly after the Korean war began with a surprise attack on the South by the Communist North, the Philippines dispatched it's soldiers to take part in the United Nation Forces. The strong Philippines contingent thought courageously and successfully in the Battles of Waegwan, Gimcheon, Daegu, Cheorwon, anf the Imjin River. They suffered 92 dead, 293 wounded and 57 missing in action.
